Creepy Footage Captures 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Ghost Ship Sailing Across U.S. Lake

The video was filmed in Lake Superior, Michigan, and has caused excitement online

UNEXPLAINED shapes flying through the air is one thing - but a new video appears to show a ghostly SHIP merrily sailing across the water.

The footage was posted on YouTube by Jason Asselin, who shot it on Saturday night.

It shows a huge grey, shadowy vessel floating on Lake Superior in Michigan.

"Saturday evening far off coast from Marquette, Michigan appeared this mysterious ship that had to be gigantic!" he captioned the video.

"Almost as if a ghost ship was showing itself to the world.

"Even if it was a ship, what could be that tall in these choppy waves?"

As if that's not creepy enough, the boat is so large it looks as if it's straight out of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

It appears to have a tall sail... with ghost hunters quick to voice some theories about what it could be.

It's been suggested it's the SS Bannockburn, which vanished on the lake during a storm in the 1900s.

It became a bit of a legend, with sailors fearing if they saw its ghostly outline they were doomed.

Another theory is that the boat is actually some kind of alien vessel.

"Lake Michigan is one of the deepest, coldest lakes in the world – which has many secrets of sunken war ships, freighters, panes and even a few atomic bombs," extraterrestrial enthusiast Scott Waring said on website UFO Sightings Daily.

"So an alien craft about 300 to 500 metre rising from the water – where else could aliens hide such a large craft and go unnoticed?"

People have been adding other theories in the YouTube comments too.

One person insisted it was just a mirage and another suggested it's the lighthouse.

Quite a few viewers agreed with Scott that it looked like an alien. It's pretty different to these UFOs which were spotted in Derbyshire though.
